The ZX1i Waveguide Rotates For
Flexible Speaker Orientation
The true compression DH2005 Driver is coupled to one of two
a
vailable horns. The 90° x 50° horn provides coverage for longer
throw and cluster applications while the 100° x 100° horn gives
broad even dispersion needed in many distributed audio
applications. An important added benefit is the rotatable horn design
a
llowing the

abinet to be oriented either horizontally or
vertically for the ultimate in design flexibility.
The ZX1i Works Great:
Indoors or Out
The Electro-Voice
®
ZX1i features a lightweight, sealed
enclosure that is inherently water resistant. The addition of a
multilayer grille and weatherized components enable the
ZX1i to per
form under many envir
onmental conditions. An
optional weatherized input panel cover with a gland nut is
available for additional protection.
T
he ElectroVoice ZX1 family of speaker
systems is truly an industry first. Never
before has a single speaker design been so
closely customized to a wide range of audio
a
pplications. Consisting of 8 distinct
versions, a
ZX1 model is available to fit
the need whether it’s part of a portable PA
for a local band or a large distributed sound
system for a major audio installation.
Delivering on this promise for fixed audio
installations, the
ZX1i model is the new
standard of no compromise audio
performance and versatility in an easy to
install, lightweight and compact package.
Finally, a compact high performance
loudspeaker system designed exclusively for
the professional contractor to use in dozens of
different fixed installations. It doesn’t matter if
your requirements are providing a compact
sound reinforcement system in a church, a
complex backgr
ound music system in a spor
ts
bar or other high-energy environment or fill
sound in a large auditorium, the
ZX1i can
solve the pr
oblem.
The ZX1 line of speakers can be summed up in two words:
Compact Flexibility
Flexibility
Choice of two available coverage patterns with horn
rotation feature
All “t” versions have an 8 ohm bypass position
to allow low impedance operation

Attractive ZX series family styling blends smoothly
with EV EVID series speaker systems
Fast & Secure Installation
The EV exclusive QuickSAM mount system enables

The Complete
ZX1 Family
The ZX1i is par
t of a complete
compact speaker system product line with
models for fixed installations distributed
systems, por
table P
A and even musician
vocal monitors. Each model incorporates a
wide range of features to make the system
attractive to every user.
The Exclusive QuickSAM™
Mounting System is Fast & Secure
The QuickSAM™ is a unique, integrated mounting bracket which is
virtually foolproof. It allows the installer to simply “click” and snap the
s
peaker onto the bracket then tighten it to the desired position.
ASC™ – Automatic Saturation
Compensation Protects Your Amplifier
A real problem with many high power 70/100v equipped speakers is their susceptibility to
transformer saturation, especially at low frequencies. All “t” versions of the ZX1i loudspeaker
incorporate our exclusive “ASC™” Automatic Saturation Compensation to address this problem.
ASC™ is a unique circuit to adjust the characteristics of the transformer that the amplifier sees to
create a “stable” load even at very high power levels. This feature virtually eliminates the
possibility of the amplifier going into protect mode or worse yet even damaging the amplifier.
The curve above shows the power draw of a conventional speaker
and the
ZX1i over the frequency spectrum. As you can see, the
ZX1i provides a far more stable and gradual power curve to the
amplifier even at the lowest frequencies. No “spikes” means no
failed amplifiers!
