DESCRIPTION
The AGB 270/280 actuator controls the position of the Rack position is proportional to the amount of current
fuel injection pump rack based on an input from the flowing through the actuator coils and is counter-
speed control unit. An AC frequency signal (propor- balanced by internal springs. A mechanical override
tional to speed) generated by the magnetic speed sen- of the fuel rack is provided through the shaft. This
sor is constantly fed into the speed control unit. The shaft can be connected to an external electric or pneu-
signal is compared with the present frequency (speed matic solenoid or a manually operated shutdown de-
setting). If the frequencies are not identical, a change vice to move the fuel rack to the no-fuel position and
in current from the speed control unit changes the hence shut down the engine. The actuator housing is
magnetic force in the actuator. The change causes an sealed against engine environment with gaskets at all
angular rotation of the actuator shaft and linear reposi- openings so steam or other water based cleaning will
tioning of the fuel injection pump racks, not affect the system's operation. No maintenance is
necessary.
