Troubleshooting Guide - General

PROBLEM

Head assembly does not bevel to

desired position.

CAUSE

1. Bevel 33.9 ° stop engaged.

Blade hits table.

Angle of cut not accurate.

Cannot move miter adjustment.

Head assembly will not fully rise

or blade guard will not fully close.

Blade binds, jams, burns wood.

Rough cuts.

Tool vibrates or shakes.

Blade does not completely cut

workpiece.

Head assembly does not slide

freely when attempting a slide

cut.

Head assembly slides forward

and back when making a chop

cut.

2. Bevel detent override knob

setting limits movement.

1. Misalignment

1. Lock knob tightened/detent

engaged.

2. Sawdust under table.

3. Blade interferes with fence.

1. Part failure.

2. Pivot spring or guard spring

not replaced properly after

service.

3. Cover plate not tightened

after replacing blade.

4. Sawdust accumulation.

1. Improper operation.

2. Dull blade.

3. Improper blade.

4. Bent blade.

1. Saw blade not round.

2. Saw blade damaged.

3. Saw blade loose.

4. Other.

1. Depth stop screw adjusted for

groove cutting.

Slide rail lock knob tightened.

2. Slide rail lock knob not tight-

ened.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Pull out 33.9 ° stop and rotate it

90°.

Change bevel detent override

setting.

Authorized service.

Loosen lock knob/move out

of detent.

Vacuum or blow out dust.

Wear eye protection.

Authorized service.

Replace or sharpen blade.

Replace with 12" diameter

blade designed for the materi-

al being cut.

Replace blade.

Tighten arbor screw.

Loosen slide rail lock knob.

Push head assembly com-

pletely against stop. Tighten

slide rail lock knob.

Bevel setting does not hold Bevel lock lever assembly needs Tighten bevel lock lever as

position, to be tightened, shown on page 13.
