resolution might not be able to handle the maximum frame-rate even in single-
stream use (MPEG4 is less intensive and may handle the maximum frame-rate).
For a secondary stream, the remaining camera processing power and
bandwidth can be configured. In a typical application, this would be for motion-
detection using MJPEG or MPEG4.
If H.264 has been used for the primary stream, do not use H.264 for the
secondary.
If the resolution of the primary stream is much larger than 640x480, then pick a
smaller resolution for the secondary, generally not much more than 640x480.
Pick a modest frame-rate, such as 5 FPS.
After the primary stream has been configured on the NVR, then go to the
camera web GUI to see what remaining choices are available. Then use the
NVR camera-configuration web-page to make secondary-stream selections to
avoid the risk of camera over-configuration. In some cases, values noticeably
larger than the above recommended limits may be available. Be sure to use the
NVR camera-configuration web-page for the final configuration (rather than the
direct camera web interface) because the NVR must know what values have
been selected.
The configuration limits available for a secondary stream might be different
between two cameras of the same model, same firmware level, and same
primary stream configuration depending on other camera configuration choices,
such as Wide-Dynamic-Range (which, in some implementations, may cut the
maximum available frame-rate in half).
The result of serious over-configuration can have different results on different
camera models. In some cases, the secondary resolution and frame-rate values
that are too large are simply replaced with smaller values. In other cases, it
appears that the camera will attempt to run the configuration resulting in the
camera responses becoming slower - instead of a fraction of second, responses
can take longer. The NVR operations that assume time-out after 3 seconds run
very badly, filling the syslog with failure messages every few seconds.
One possible result of over-configuration is that if the primary stream has been
running at less than maximum resolution or maximum frame rate, and then is set
to the maximum, the response from the camera may be to accept the new
primary values and drop a previously-running secondary stream. The primary
stream should be fully configured first.
The recovery from a seriously over-configured camera may require camera
reboot using the direct camera web interface or camera power-cycle.

th
generation cameras when primary stream is set to 640x480 or greater then pick a
smaller resolution for the secondary, generally not more than 640x480.
VideoEdge NVR Web Client resolution limitation with SONY megapixel cameras, won’t display
video with resolution of width or height at 2048 pixels or higher.
Due to the above limitation, it is recommended to set the aspect ratio of CH210, DH210/210T to
16:9 prior to configuring them on VideoEdge NVR. The 4:3 aspect ratios can be set after they
are configured on the NVR. However, re-adjusting the FPS, resolution may be necessary for
them to work properly with NVR.
